Wilderness First Aid
The WFA Course is a 16-hour course. This training introduces the student to basic concepts in patient assessment, major/minor trauma, allergies and toxins, extremity splinting and more. The majority of the time will be spent with hands on learning along with a variety of lectures that cover basic anatomy and physiology. This course is designed to meet the needs of the recreationalist or day trip leader with access to reliable communication.

This training is offered as a 2-day in person course with a mix of skills sessions, scenarios, and didactic learning modules.
Wilderness First Responder
The WFR Course is an 80 hour course that is designed specifically to meet the needs of outdoor educators, guides, expedition leaders, and instructors. It is the outdoor industry standard for wilderness medicine training. This course is ideal for individuals who are traveling in remote environments without reliable communication. Students will learn how to prevent, assess, treat, and stabilize a patient for a prolonged period of time.

-Wilderness CPR : 3-years
-Wilderness Anaphylaxis Training (WAT) : 2-years
This course is offered in a hybrid format with a combination of self-paced online learning and a 5-day in person skills session.
Wilderness First Responder Refresher
The WFR-Refresher Course (WRC) is a 24 hour course that recertifies your current Wilderness First Responder certification. Students must possess a current WFR certification from an accredited organization.

This course is offered in a hybrid format with a combination of self-paced online learning and a 2-day in person skills session.
Registration & Cancellation Policies
Tuition & Student Registration
Full payment must be received to be considered a registered participant.
MWR Course Cancellation
Mountain West Rescue reserves the right to cancel a course at any time. In this instance, we will contact all students and issue a full refund.
Student Cancellations
Cancellations must be properly communicated to the MWR office. The timing of the cancellation notification in reference to the course start date will determine whether tuition fees are: refunded, credited or forfeited.
Start date for standard courses = 1st day of in-person classroom or field section.
Start date for hybrid courses = 1st day of online course section. Notification deadlines are as follows:
1 month or earlier cancellation notification = full refund, less $50 administration fee.
7-days to 30 day cancellation = full credit, redeemable with MWR for up-to one year of the original course start date.
Cancellations made within 7-days of course start will forfeit their tuition payment.*
